TIDEs OF UNCERTaINTIEs

ART INSTALATION | 2023

In 2023, I had the incredible privilege of exhibiting my artwork at the esteemed CCBB Rio de Janeiro, a renowned cultural institution and one of Brazil’s most frequented museums with millions of visitors every year.
Entitled “Tides of Uncertainties,” my piece delves into the theme of life’s uncertainties, juxtaposing them with the unpredictable ebb and flow of ocean waves.

This piece was part of a bigger art exhibit called “Década dos Oceanos” curated by “Márcio Harum”.

CENTRO CULTURAL BANCO DO BRASIL (CCBB)

CCBB-RJ holds a distinguished status within Rio de Janeiro’s artistic landscape, with a legacy spanning over a century. Recognized as a prominent cultural institution, it annually attracts a substantial audience, with over a million visitors, solidifying its position as one of Brazil’s foremost museums.

I had the pleasure to showcase my piece at the second floor featuring a LED screen and Projection Mappping around it to expand the piece making it even more immersive.

LETTING GO OF CONTROL

The conceptual essence of this artwork revolves around life’s uncertainties. To mirror this theme in the creative process, I opted to integrate Generative AI, known for its inherent unpredictability, for the first time in the production of this piece.

The wave animation used in the background was created using Stable Diffusion, complemented by ComfyUI as the interface and AnimatedDiff serving as the animation module. This deliberate choice not only aligns with the thematic exploration of uncertainty but also introduces a cutting-edge dimension to the piece.

The AI-generated animation undergoes a post-processing phase involving posterization and dither reduction treatments. The resulting asset is subsequently used as a mask on a C4D material shader.

This pipeline reflects a conscientious approach to integrating such powerful yet controversial technology. By employing this method, AI enhances my creative process without overshadowing it entirely.
